It is beyond doubt that we live in a season of increasing presence of evil in our world. There is no day you turn on your TV that evil events are not in the news. The fact of the matter is that evil has become pervasive, evil acts are increasing and it is almost unavoidable that we should all at some point, sooner or later come face-to-face with it.
I woke this morning to see a news flash about a brilliant young scholar in a prestigious university arrested for committing sadistic crimes online to children online. As I read on, I was sickened to my stomach by the depths of depravity this person subjected his victims. Evil is no longer somewhere far off or in obscure places where we never go. Evil has now spilled into our streets and can now creep into our homes through the internet like in this story I just told.
I know how hard it is to be immune from a world where evil is oppressive and runs wild. Every night, as we turn off our lights to go to bed, I know a lot of us have thoughts of worry and anxiety about the safety and wellbeing of ourselves, our children, our loved ones, our friends pas through our minds and what the new day would bring for us all. It is easy to get caught up in all these events and become fearful.
But I am writing to you dear friend not to give in to fear. I am not saying evil things will cease happening or lessen, rather evil will increase as humanity continues to fall in sin. I do not promise that you will not experience something that may be perceived as evil. But I want to reassure you if you truly are a child of God and know Him, you believe in your Father in heaven, then trust Him absolutely and trust in what he has said:
“But now, this is what the LORD says– he who created you, Jacob, he who formed you, Israel: “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze” Isaiah 43:1
The cure for evil, dear friend, is to continually practice the presence of Father with you. The more you know and feel his divine presence with you and all those you love, the more at peace you will be. So, I encourage you, to meditate on these words and to pray them over and over in your heart until you feel them to be nothing but the truth.
There will always be evil in the world as long as we are here on earth, but we will walk without fear of evil because we will never walk alone. The Almighty God has got us and He has got everything in control.
